Jesus Our Treasure
Sunday started earlier in the week and if I can pinpoint a day, it would be Wednesday. The reason I say this is because this was the day I heard the Lord (not audibly), that He wanted to do something during our prayer time at 9:15. What that was exactly would be for us to figure out when the time came. All I knew was that He wanted us to take time to offer prayer for deliverance and healing.
Leading with that, we gathered to get things set up with a team commited to making things smooth, easy, fun, and excellent. The team got things in order quickly and we all enjoyed each other’s company. As I sat in the dimly lit conference room talking with Santi about the direction I believed the Lord was leading in prayer time, we set our hearts and faith in God to do what He wanted to do.
Rewind to about 20 minutes earlier when someone new walked in and was looking for some help. As I and Santi spoke with him and listened to his story, it was evident he was in need of a touch from God. As Santi called for everyone to come into prayer, everyone started walking to the room, not knowing the depth of which God desired to move in that time. How precious it is that we can unknowingly be walking into a miracle about to happen.
As we prayed Romans 8:38 over us and set our hearts to receive from God, I asked for anyone who felt oppressed beyond the normal anxieties of life to come forward to be healed and delivered. The first one to respond was the gentleman who walked in to church for the first time. Santi started to pray over him, and tears dripped down from his eyes to the floor. The saints were praying for him while this was taking place and you could visible see a face that was axnious 5 minutes before turn to a face relaxed and at peace and comfort from the touch of the Lord.
I didn’t hesitate to lead him in a prayer of salvation and in that moment, he received the salvation Jesus offers every one of us and repented of his sins. There was an awe of God in that moment and a joy filled everyone as claps of praise rose in that room. God is faithful. What He started whispering on Wednesday was seen in a loud proclamation of His love and glory.
Our heart fixed on his mercy and grace, we entered into service with a heart eager to experience more with Him. We opened singing 10,000 Reasons and went into a study of Jesus Our Treasure (get notes here). As we aim to become transformed into the image of Jesus, the enemy lays down traps for us to fall into. The biggest trap of all is our pride, and we learned about we can not only recognize pride manifesting in our life, but how we can both avoid falling into that pit and recognizing the trap before we fall in.
Our worship contintued with prayer and intercession happening during our songs to Him. People came forward to receive from the Lord and He met everyone there in a beautiful way. Our encounter with God this day left an imprint on our heart and all this leads to us being transformed into the image of Christ. We eagerly wait until we can gather togther again and witness and experience the goodness of our great King.
