One Thing Matters

It’s been an adjustment over the past month going back to the community center, but I believe we have found our stride and I hope to be more regular in these weekly blogs. Preparing for this week’s teaching felt different. I sensed a deep need to come with my heart fully open, rather than just following an outline. I also felt led to bring someone alongside me to reinforce the central truth of our message—the one thing that matters most in life.

As I prepared my heart for the day, I left early to get everything set up before the volunteers arrived. This time is my personal act of service, a reminder to keep my heart humble before the Lord. As people started arriving, there was a strong sense of unity, and we got a great head start. The atmosphere during our volunteer huddle was powerful—we are truly growing as a team.

Prayer time was especially moving. There was a deep sense of intentionality, reverence, and faith in the room. We found ourselves being ministered to by God even before service began. I can’t tell you how important that is. We tend to think of “church service” starting at a particular time, most people arrive late for that, but in reality we are the church and as soon as we step foot to start setting things up and gather for prayer, church already started.

Worship was powerful. Voices rose loudly in praise, and I’ve noticed a shift over the past few weeks—our congregation is opening up, singing with boldness, and engaging in heartfelt worship. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.

Santiago joined me in teaching this Sunday, and his testimony was incredible. He shared how God has worked in his life when he placed his focus on the one thing that truly matters. His story was a powerful reminder of the greatness of our God. You can watch the sermon here.

In every aspect of today—whether in the way we ministered to the children, the simplicity yet richness of fellowship, or the depth of our time together—God moved in a profound way. We encountered His presence, and we are leaving with renewed hearts and a sharpened focus. Today was a marking moment, and we step forward determined to keep our eyes on the one thing that matters most.
